Beef Flat-Iron Steak with Broccoli and Kiwifruit Salad

  • 1 pack Silver Fern Farms Beef Flat-Iron Steaks

Broccoli and Kiwifruit Salad

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • ½ tsp salt 
  • 2 kiwifruit, cut in half and then in quarters
  • 2 spring onions, sliced thinly 
  • ½ red bell pepper, deseeded and sliced thinly 
  • ¼ cup finely chopped fresh cilantro


  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp rice bran oil
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 Tbsp grated fresh ginger


Toss the steaks in olive oil; season with salt and pepper. Heat a fry pan or grill and cook the meat for 3 minutes each side. Transfer to a plate, cover and rest for 5 minutes.

To prepare the salad, place the broccoli and salt in a saucepan. Cover with boiling water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 3 minutes. Drain and refresh under cold water.

Combine broccoli, kiwifruit, spring onion, bell pepper and cilantro in a bowl.

For the vinaigrette, place all the ingredients in a jar. Shake to combine. Pour over the salad ingredients and toss to combine.

Serve the steaks with the broccoli and kiwifruit salad.
